PRINCESS ASHELIA B'NARGIN DALMASCA is the leader of the anti-Imperial faction and the deposed successor to the throne of the Kingdom of Dalmasca. Her father is the late King Raminas; her uncle, Marquis Halim Ondore IV, is the ruler of the sky city Bhujerba. |
Ashe is made of strength and a stern will worthy of any throne; she also has the tendency to take matters very seriously. ("LIBERATION. NOT REBEL.") However, with the future of her diminished kingdom resting on shoulders still struggling with the grief of her dead prince husband, there is little time for frivolity. This emotional position taxes, though, because Ashe sometimes finds herself a little shaken when faced with Rasler's ghost-- in truth, an apparition by the Occuria to guide and manipulate her-- and can do nothing but swear vengeance anew and frustrate helplessly as situations constantly turn against her and her bid for Dalmascan sovereignty. It's little help that Rasler died so early in their arranged marriage; passed as political convenience, there were nevertheless ties of affection running under the word on the street.
A flight through Ivalice in a game of escape, and capture, and escape again with the Archadian Empire as she seeks the Nethicite shards that can make or break her fetchquest, Ashe finds the resigned determination to deal with certain unsavoury factors for the sake of Dalmasca. Originally taken in with a slight distaste for the sky pirates Balthier and Fran-- keen on the prospect of "grave robbing" the magnificent tombs of King Raithwall and just plain down and dirty mercenary both-- her opinion can only be affirmed when Balthier demands her wedding band in exchange for safe conduit. Golden heroic hearts shine through for the sake of a better tomorrow, though, and Ashe develops a certain affection for Balthier that can only end in desperate pleas not to be all sacrifically minded for the company's sake.
