DOCTOR CIDOLFUS DEMEM BUNANSA is thought to be a little half past mad. A reseacher of Nethicite, he gets all caught up in obsessive study time and shunts the world aside in his neverending quest to godhood through the avataresque power of the rebel Occuria, Venat. His son, Balthier, shuns the parental leashes upon him and makes good his escape from the madness. |
Wise in the ways of Nethicite and a little too clever and scheming for good, Cid takes up alliance with Vayne Solidor to attain their dreams of power and shaking up the Occuria godleash on the fate of the people-- continuous warring to attain the Nethicite shards in the guise of royal artifacts; leading Ashe on to some more Nethicite breakin' bidding. A confrontational Balthier finally gets the hand on him; defeated, Cid surrenders Venat to Vayne's side. Father-son reconcilation isn't so much in the cards that day as something a little more hurtful, and a little more tangled-- how far can Balthier still run when it all comes falling down too fast.
MARQUIS HALIM ONDORE IV is the chronicler of these eventful times, and ruler of the sky city Bhujerba. Tagging the city as a neutral party in the Archadian territorial conflicts, he nevertheless harbours anti-Imperial pursuits-- he secretly funds their efforts, and staged the false word of both Ashe, his niece, and Basch's deaths.
Made of resourceful and cunning and that needed bit of ruthless, Ondore is originally suspected of Archadian sympathies as Vayne Solidor takes the man in hand and puts him up all devious pawn like-- it takes Basch's setting of things aright for Princess Ashe to fall under her uncle's wing for a much needed helping hand; both collaborating for Dalmascan sovereignty, it's to be efforts constantly foiled by one turn of events or another. When Ondore finally marshalls the forces to give Archadia the anti-Imperial push, threat of Rozzaria entering the fray puts a halt to the motion; however, contrary parties instigate for all out battle, and the uneasy calm falls to their schemes. Ondore's hand is forced; he gives leave to Princess Ashe and company to take out Vayne Solidor aboard his airship to cut the head from the snake, while Ondore deals with the enemy on the battlefront.
PRINCE RASLER HEIOS NABRADIA is the young heir to the throne of the Kindgom of Nabradia, and newly wed in political alliance to Princess Ashe of Dalmasca; even with gossip tripping the streets on the word of arranged marriage, there still lies honesty and affection between them.
When the fortress of Nabudis falls to Archadian forces, his father King is killed; Prince Rasler takes up the torch with a passion, and follows Captain Basch fon Ronsenburg to the walls of Nalbina, last stand on the Nabradia-Dalmasca border between them and Archadian victory. But for all of Basch's desperate attempt to safeguard him, Rasler is felled by an arrow and the captain bears back a dead prince to the newly wed-- and newly widowed-- Princess Ashe of Dalmasca.
Ghost visions of Rasler are strewn throughout, both guiding and unsettling Ashe-- his semblance is used by the Occuria to attempt a push in the direction of Archadian massacre, but Ashe strikes down the final apparition, knowing the Prince would never wish for such a vengeance to fall, and freeing herself finally of the past that would otherwise bind her.
